Last Thursday, we had the opportunity to participate in the Big Fake Wedding, a unique event that takes place all over the country. The founders of the event started it as a wedding show with a purpose. A fake wedding to bring together vendors and clients alike. As seen on The Today Show for their unique take on the traditional wedding showcases, The Big Fake Wedding has a ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance party, all while brides and grooms watch to see how the event comes to life.
How it works: The show chooses a “bride and groom” to get married and be center stage at the event. This can be a couple that is renewing their vows, or one that is getting married for the first time. The show will pick a color palette, and the vendors take it from there! Based on the theme, bridal party outfits will be brought in, tables will be decorated accordingly, and a florist will design bouquets for all involved. That way, the invited guests will be able to see the vendors hard work come to life.
Where it takes place:
This year, the event was held at WithinSodo, a small venue in the south side of Seattle. The venue had a rooftop cocktail area complete with outdoor fireplaces, large built in bar, and beautiful brick walls perfect for any backdrop.
How we participated: The theme that was chosen for this years wedding was “the Cliffs of Moher” - which is located on the coastline of Ireland. The colors chosen were mixtures of greens, burnt oranges, creams and a bit of dusty blue. We brought in our sage satin linens to complement the color palette for a few of the guest tables. For our display cocktail table, we used our Nova Bamboo, which seemed to go with the Irish theme perfectly.
Thoughts afterward: The event was a hit! There were lots of people who attended, and we got a chance to work with and meet a lot of vendors we haven’t had the chance to work with before! The whole event was super fun, and it was awesome to see a loving couple renew their vows for the cause. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
